I read\u00a0Law at Sheffield University, graduating in 1976. I qualified as a solicitor in 1979 and began practising in Bradford, further to this I qualified as a Notary Public in 1983 and continued to practice both.<\/p>\n

In July 2014 I\u00a0ceased practice as a solicitor and maintain\u00a0full time vocation as a Notary Public.<\/p>\n

There are approximately 1,000 notaries in England and Wales. Of these, about 800 are members of the Notaries Society – the membership body which represents the interests of notaries. I too am\u00a0a member of the Notaries Society should you wish to find me on their website.

The Notaries Society<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Notaries Society is the representative society for the 800 or so Notaries Public practising in England and Wales. The Notaries Society was founded in 1882 and was incorporated in April 1907, the twenty fifth anniversary of its founding. Membership of the Notaries Society is open to all Notaries in England and Wales, and to other Notaries whose Faculty is derived from the Court of Faculties.\u00a0The Society is run by a Council of 23 members headed by the President and\u00a0employs a Secretary to run the organisation.<\/p>\n

The Faculty Office<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Faculty Office is the administrative body of which the Master of the Faculties is head. Part of its responsibilities is the governance of the notaries. The Registrar of the Faculty Office oversees the training and qualification of notaries, has the responsibility for issuing the faculty and the annual practicing certificate which, together, enable them to practice. I am regulated by the Faculty Office; should you wish to contact them with an inquiry, you may be instructed to do so by\u00a0Regulations and Complaints<\/a>.<\/p>\n
